Last weekend Katie (travel buddy) and I went to Manuel Antonio, 20 minutes from Quepos on the Southern Pacific side of Costa Rica. We had a lot of fun! We left 5 am Saturday morning and stopped in Jaco to check out a surf competition at Playa Hermosa and then take surf lessons. Then we continued on to Quepos and arrived in Quepos about 5:30. We just decided to Pura Vida it and not come with a hotel in mind. We met someone on the bus who suggested a stop to get off at. We found a pretty sweet hotel/hostel that had a pool and served toast, coffee/juice in the morning. We went to eat then came back and chilled in the pool. At the same time our other roommate got in. She was woman from Russia named Natasha. After I got out of the shower Katie told me that it was Natasha’s birthday and she’d gone out to get wine and something to celebrate with us. When she came back we went outside to sit on a bench and celebrated. I hate wine, but I had a little to be in the spirit. She was so kind, it was a great night. Especially we could see from our hotel the biggest moon in 20 years. It was beautiful night.

In the morning we headed out to the park and hiked for an hour and a half. It was very nice being out in the woods and trying to see what we could. We saw some lizards, butterflies, and 3 types of monkeys: howler, white faced capuchin, and squirrel. We ended up at a beach that had a lot of crabs. After our hike we ended up napping on the beach because we were so exhausted. At that time there was hardly anyone there; when we woke up every tourist possible was there. The water was really cool and blue and I enjoyed the scenery. Walking to exit the park was also a nice little adventure. Overall, it was a pretty awesome weekend and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants visits Costa Rica.
